Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Joker Spades mobile application (the "App") operated by The Shadow Grid ("we", "our", or "us"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the App. If you are under 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf. We do not knowingly allow use by children under 13.

2. Account Registration

You may use the App as a guest without creating an account. Guest data is stored locally on your device only.
To access online features (multiplayer, friends, tournaments), you must create an account using an email address, Sign in with Apple, or Google Sign-In.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account.
You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and to update it if it changes.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3. Display Names and User Conduct

When you choose a display name, you agree that it will not:

Contain profanity, slurs, hate speech, or language that is offensive, threatening, or discriminatory
Impersonate another person, company, or entity
Contain personally identifiable information of others (phone numbers, addresses, etc.)
Contain advertising, promotional content, or spam
Violate any applicable law or regulation

We reserve the right to change or reset display names that violate these guidelines without prior notice. Display name changes are limited to once every 24 hours.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the App for any unlawful purpose
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our servers, databases, or other systems
Interfere with or disrupt the App or its infrastructure
Use bots, scripts, or automated tools to interact with the App
Exploit bugs, glitches, or unintended game mechanics for unfair advantage
Harass, abuse, or threaten other users through emotes, friend requests, or any other feature
Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
Attempt to manipulate rankings, leaderboards, or tournament results

5. Subscriptions and Payments

5.1 Premium Subscription

The App offers an optional premium subscription ("Joker Spades Premium") that provides access to cosmetic content including additional table skins, card back designs, card face themes, accent colors, animation themes, and emotes.

5.2 Billing

Subscriptions are billed at $1.99 USD per month (or equivalent local currency) through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Payment is charged to your App Store or Play Store account at confirmation of purchase.
Your subscription automatically renews each month unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.

5.3 Cancellation and Refunds

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your device settings (iOS: Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions; Android: Google Play Store > Subscriptions).
Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain access to premium features until then.
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google in accordance with their respective refund policies.

5.4 No Pay-to-Win

The premium subscription provides cosmetic content only. It does not provide any gameplay advantage, and all core game features remain available to free users.

6. Intellectual Property

The App and all its content, including but not limited to graphics, card designs, animations, sounds, music, and code, are owned by The Shadow Grid and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works based on the App or its content.

7. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own terms:

Amazon Web Services (AWS) — Backend infrastructure and authentication
Apple Sign-In / Google Sign-In — Account authentication
RevenueCat — Subscription management
Google AdMob — Advertising (free tier only)

We are not responsible for the practices or policies of these third-party services.

8. Disclaimers

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not guarantee that:

The App will be available at all times or free from errors or interruptions
Online multiplayer services will always be accessible
Game data or progress will never be lost
The App will be compatible with all devices or operating system versions

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, The Shadow Grid shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of the App, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or interruption of service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability for any claim arising from or related to the App shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or $10 USD, whichever is greater.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Shadow Grid, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising from your use of the App or your violation of these Terms.

11. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time through Settings > Profile > Delete Account. This permanently removes all associated data from our servers.
We may suspend or terminate your account at our discretion if you violate these Terms, engage in abusive behavior, or use the App in a manner that could harm other users or our services.
Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately. Any active subscription should be cancelled separately through your device settings.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction.

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
